  • Tutored from the age of 16, when employed by own school to mentor a group of five More-Able GCSE French students once per week.
  • All A*s achieved at A-level (English Literature, Spanish, and French).
  • Studied at the University of Cambridge (Corpus Christi College), after A-levels.
  • Elected as JCR Academic and Access Officer whilst studying at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. This involved close liaison with Corpus Christi’s Admissions’ Tutor, Schools’ Liaison Officer, and Admissions Co-Ordinator.
  • As a sandwich year, before the final year at the University of Cambridge, worked as the German Language Assistant at a state-maintained comprehensive school in Leicestershire. Also covered some A-level lessons and had a regular timetabled lesson with Year 13s to develop teaching practice.
  • First teaching job secured before graduation: as a Teacher of English at the prestigious Rugby School. Completed PGCE (and acquired QTS) whilst teaching at Rugby School.
  • Departmental Specialist for English Language A-level whilst in post at Rugby School, including regular CPD at the English and Media Centre.
  • Have also done supply teaching around other projects and kept up a relationship with Rugby School via teaching A-level English Language for Rugby School Online.
  • Subsequently taught Spanish at Denstone College. Also held the post of Assistant Boarding Housemaster of a boys’ boarding house within weeks of starting the job at Denstone College.
  • Experienced in supporting students with Oxbridge (and Russell Group) university applications, both for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Have done this work both within schools and since running my own business.
  • Industry experience as a freelance AI Linguist, working in English, German, and French for an AI-startup based in Germany.
  • My approach: instil good essay-writing/exam response practice from the earliest moments in the curriculum; practical application of knowledge, as far as possible, to solidify knowledge and scaffold further learning.
