The Macbeth GCSE Revision ‘Booster’ Masterclass is aimed at students taking GCSE examinations in the summer of 2024. We will use AQA as our ‘style guide’; however, students taking exams with different exam boards are still encouraged to attend (as we will be revising key elements of the play, key context, and focusing on language, structure, and form – all three of which will be relevant, regardless of the student’s exam board!)

This is a one-hour group session, which will loosely follow the structure outlined below (subject to change slightly, as any good revision classes should, to ensure that all students in attendance are getting the most from the session, feel supported, and have their questions answered!)

  1. Revision ‘quick-fire’: a ‘quick-fire’ task to recap key themes, events, and terminology relating to Macbeth.
  2. Group ‘essay planning’ task: as a group, or in smaller sub-groups (depending on numbers), we will plan the outline for a past paper essay on Macbeth.
  3. Interactive ‘live writing’ demonstration: Rhys, the instructor, will model how to turn a plan into an essay which meets the top-band criteria of the mark scheme. This will be interactive, ensuring that students are gauging exactly how the top marks are being ‘unlocked’, step by step.
  4. Time for questions: the students will have chance to clarify any particular doubts they have on Macbeth as a set text.

* = Please note that the price per student has gone up slightly, in comparison to the RMLocke Tutoring sessions. This is for several reasons:

  • As this is not a whole series of sessions (these sessions are all ‘one-off’), I am unable to offer the multi-session discount. This gives parents/carers the flexibility just to book on to the sessions which they feel would be most beneficial to their child(ren), rather than having to pay for sessions in a series which may not be relevant to them, at their revision stage.
  • There is no minimum number of students for these sessions. The event will take place even if there are only two sessions. Therefore, the price has to be set slightly higher, for the instructor to be able to earn the National Minimum Wage (guaranteed).
  • Higher overheads (e.g. accountancy fees), now that we are a Limited Company.
